BLACKBYRD TAKE FLIGHT

Every now and again a new group appears that changes the face of pop culture for the better. With their first single "All For Me" already sprinting up the charts, BlackByrd are set to entrench themselves in the hearts and minds of everyone who loves great, original and thought-provoking pop.

Hot on the heels of signing a record deal with EMI MUSIC, the dynamic trio is getting cosy with the charts thanks to their inspired and stirring hit single.

Made up of three dynamic young Capetonians, Tarryn Lamb, Samantha Heldsinger and Tamsyn Maker, as BlackByrd, all have spent the past three years working towards the moment when EMI Music signed them to their major label and turned their lives around irrevocably.

Taking their name from the classic Beatles track, BlackByrd are in the process of turning adult-contemporary pop convention on its head, thanks to Lamb's new-found talent as a critical songwriter. "We've all grown, as people and entertainers," Lamb says. "We're artists now, and loving every minute."

Since January 2012, BlackByrd, along with promoter and music-industry veteran Mike Fuller as manager, have been creating a body of work that will be released as 13-track debut album this September.

Quick to be attracted to great talent, Mark Beling (Mean Mr Mustard) produced the fiery first single and album. "Tarryn wrote all the tracks on the album, with the exception of country classic "Reason To Believe" (made famous by Rod Stewart), Heldsinger points out. Titled Strong, BlackByrd's debut album, like "All For Me", is filled with real emotion, powerful lyrics, and a level of genuine spirituality that's as rare as their combined pool of talent.

Everything Lamb, Heldsinger and Maker touch provokes response. "Our overriding messages on "All For Me", as with all the tracks on the album, are positive," Lamb explains. "It's all about not looking back, and focusing on what the future holds."

An exciting, life-changing voyage that in its infancy has already seen a groundswell of support for the three warm, engaging, fun-loving and fetching threesome. Their musical crusade now well underway, BlackByrd's mission "to take on the world!" as Maker says, has truly begun!
